On May 16, The Korea Times reported that boy group BTS won in 3 categories of the Billboard Music Awards 2022, one of the three biggest pop music awards in the US.
Specifically, the group was honored in the categories of Best Group/Duo, Best Selling Artist and Best Selling Song. This is the 6th year in a row that BTS has received an award at the Billboard Music Awards.
This year, the boy group was nominated for 7 awards in 6 categories, with two songs ” Butter ” and ” Permission To Dance” both receiving nominations for Best Selling Song. Butter is the winning song.
In the category of Best Group/Dual, BTS defeated two strong competitors, the Silk Sonic duo (including male singer Bruno Mars and rapper Anderson .Paak) – who received 4 awards at the 64th Grammy Awards. – and British rock band Glass Animals.
This victory marks the third time BTS has been honored in the category of Best Group/Duo.
In addition, BTS also won the Best Selling Artist award for two consecutive years, beating out many other global stars such as Adele, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and Walker Hayes.
However, the group did not attend the Billboard Music Awards due to a busy schedule to prepare for the upcoming album.
The Billboard Music Awards selects winners based on the artist’s achievements on the Billboard chart. This year, the awards ceremony was held on May 16 in Las Vegas, USA to honor the most successful music stars of the year.
Since 2017, BTS has been honored in at least one category of the Billboard Music Awards every year. In 2021, the boy group received nominations in 4 categories and won all four.
